Getting Care for Your Child When Away From Home
There are times when your child needs care when they are away from home. If your child is sick or needs urgent or emergency care while they are away from home in the United States, here’s what you should do:
- If you think your child has an emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest ER.
- If your child is sick or needs urgent care, call your child’s PCP. Your child’s PCP will help you decide if your child needs to go to the nearest ER.
- If your child is sick, and you are not sure if it is an emergency, call your child’s PCP. Your child’s PCP can help you decide if you need to go to the nearest ER.
If your child gets care in the ER and they are admitted to the hospital while they are away from home, have the hospital call Keystone First – CHIP. The phone number is listed on the back of your child’s Enrollee ID card.
